ACCESSING OUTPATIENT SERVICES

Muskegon has many outpatient substance use providers and all of them can be accessed by contacting them directly. Treatment begins by scheduling an assessment, where you will be asked about your background as well as your current drugs of choice and usage pattern. All providers focus on trauma, co-occurring disorders, and life stressors, so you will be asked questions about all aspects of your life.

When you come to your first appointment be sure to bring documentation of any insurance and any other assessments, doctors notes, or anything else that you think will be helpful in providing the best care plan for you. The amount of time you will spend in treatment is based on your individual needs.

ACCESSING DETOX OR RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

If you have private insurance, contact the customer services/behavioral health number on the back of your card. You may also have an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) through your employer who can assist you. If it is an emergency, please go to the nearest Emergency Department.

Organizations that accept private insurance

  • HealthWest
  • Arbor Circle
  • Catholic Charities
  • Wedgwood Christian Services
  • Mercy Health Life Counseling

If you have Medicaid/no insurance, and it is an emergency you should go to the nearest Emergency Department. Otherwise, you may call 231-720-3200 and request detox/residential services. You may also walk into Mercy Life Counseling or HealthWest for an assessment to evaluate what level of care is clinically appropriate. Whether the intervention is on the phone, or face to face, you will be asked questions about your current symptoms and usage pattern, as well as past and current treatment, and your life situation.
