Who We Are

It was clear that Muskegon was in the midst of an opiate crisis, and it was time to bring together key leaders in the community to discover ways to combat this problem. The Opiate Task force has been meeting since 2016. The Task Force work plan includes providing community education, expanding overdose prevention and treatment services, as well as reducing associated stigma.

Purpose

The Task Force has six goals of focus

  • Raise community awareness about the risks of opioid prescriptions
  • Advocate for alternative methods of pain management with physicians and insurance companies
  • Educate the community on recognizing overdose risk factors and reversal options
  • Increase Evidenced Based Programs for SUD Treatment options in Muskegon county
